Oud in White
OUD IN WHITE
LABORATORIO OLFATTIVO
Created by Julien Rasquinet, the final student of legendary master perfumer Pierre Bourdon and the nose behind Frédéric Malle’s The Moon. In other words, this comes with serious perfumery pedigree!
CURATOR’S NOTES
White by name. Not by nature.
This is jasmine and oud in a beautifully tailored fist fight.
It opens bright and deceptively polished, with juicy pear, raspberry and a clean strike of ginger. Then jasmine sambac walks in: rich, indolic and almost carnal, softened only slightly by apricot-toned osmanthus and dry Virginia cedar.
The drydown takes it somewhere darker. Resinous labdanum, creamy sandalwood and textured Cambodian oud create something leathery, warm and faintly animalic.
Floral, woody, plush and slightly dangerous. Refined on the surface. Feral underneath.
THE VIBE
Late conversation. Low light. Close quarters. Good clothes and very confident company.
Oud in White has heat under the collar. It feels expensive, intimate and properly niche, leaving a rich, textured trail that refuses to smell like everything else in the room.
HOW TO WEAR IT
Best in cool to mild weather, particularly during the evening or whenever the setting deserves something with presence.
Start with one or two sprays. This is a Parfum Intense and has absolutely no interest in becoming background noise. Give it time on the skin and allow the journey from bright fruit to floral heat and dark oud to unfold properly.
WHO IT’S FOR
For the confident dresser, the fragrance collector and anyone bored with safe oud or scrubbed-clean florals.
If you enjoy jasmine with a sensual, slightly dirty edge and oud that feels resinous, leathery and alive, this is your territory. It is not delicate, dry or transparent. It is plush, dark and charged.
THE NOSE
Julien Rasquinet is one of the heavyweight names in modern perfumery.
Trained by Pierre Bourdon as his final student, Rasquinet has built a reputation for bringing polish, structure and tension to powerful materials. In Oud in White, he sets luminous jasmine against dark, leathery oud and lets neither side behave itself.
THE COLLABORATION
The idea began with Laboratorio Olfattivo co-founder Daniela Caon, who had long wanted a jasmine-and-oud fragrance.
Creative director Roberto Drago chose Rasquinet, a perfumer he greatly admired, to bring that confrontation to life. The result is not jasmine softened by oud or oud decorated with flowers. Both materials retain their character, creating a deliberate tension between light and darkness.
THE HOUSE
Founded by Daniela Caon and Roberto Drago, Laboratorio Olfattivo is an Italian artistic-perfumery house built around emotion, collaboration and creative freedom.
Rather than following market formulas, Drago invites some of the world’s most accomplished perfumers to explore an idea without unnecessary restrictions. Each fragrance begins with a story, a material or a moment worth capturing.
THE CONCEPT
Oud in White is built around contrast.
White-floral brightness meets oud’s darker grain. Jasmine sambac, osmanthus and cedar create the light; labdanum, sandalwood and Cambodian oud bring the shadow.
Polished yet animalic. Sophisticated yet slightly untamed. That contradiction is precisely what makes it work.
